States House Select Committee on Assassinations, 1977-1978; member of the
Houston, Tex., city council, 1990-1994; Houston, Tex., municipal judge,
1987-1990; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Fourth and to the seven
succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1995-present).
