School of Law, 1983; legislative counsel to United States Representative Thomas
G. Loeffler of Texas, 1983-1985; chief of staff to United States Representative
Larry Combest of Texas, 1985-1988; deputy assistant Secretary of State for
Legislative Affairs, Department of State, 1988-1989; rancher; lawyer, private
practice; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fourth and to the seven
succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1995-present).
