(Ben), (grandson of Albert Benjamin “Happy” Chandler), a Representative from Kentucky; born in Versailles, Woodford County, Ky., September 12, 1959; graduated from Woodford County High School; B.A., University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky.; J.D., University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky.; lawyer, private practice; elected Kentucky state auditor, 1991-1995; elected attorney general for the State of Kentucky, 1995-2003; unsuccessful candidate for Governor of Kentucky in 2003; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Eighth Congress in a special election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative Ernie Fletcher and reelected to three succeeding Congresses (February 17, 2004-present).
