A.B., University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky., 1962; LL.B., University of
Kentucky Law School, Lexington, Ky., 1964; Kentucky and North Carolina Army
National Guard, 1956-1964; lawyer, private practice; commonwealth attorney,
Pulaski and Rockcastle Counties, Ky., 1969-1980; delegate, Republican National
Conventions, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004; elected as a
Republican to the Ninety-seventh and the fourteen succeeding Congresses
(January 3, 1981-present).
