County, Ky., May 25, 1943; graduated from Madisonville High School,
Madisonville, Ky., 1961; B.S., University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky., 1965;
attended Wesley Theological Seminary and American University, Washington, D.C.;
J.D., University of Kentucky School of Law, Lexington, Ky., 1969; United States
Army Reserve, 1967-1973; lawyer, private practice; business executive; business
owner; attorney adviser to Chairman Edward J. Philbin of the Interstate
Commerce Commission, 1991-1993; member of the Kentucky state house of
representatives, 1973-1975; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fourth
and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1995-present).
