Chicago, Chicago, Ill., 1985; J. D. Loyola University School of Law, Chicago,
Ill., 1989; professor; lawyer; legislative aide; Cook County Ill. board of
commissioners, 1998-2009; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Eleventh
Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of
United States Representative Rahm Emanuel (April 7, 2009-present).
