The Kingwood TEA Party Society (KWTPS) held its first meeting on April 27, 2009 on an evening in Kingwood marked by an antediluvian flood. We had 12 new members and 5 Houston Tea Party Society members led by co-founder Josh Parker, who braved the weather to help us found our group.
We are staunch allies, with the occasional disagreement over the best method to accomplish our goals of bringing this country back to sanity as relates to our core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Limited Government, Free Markets, and respect for the Constitution of the United States. KWTPS also supports our other local Tea Parties, and are proud to be a part of The Woodlands' coalition of North Houston Tea Party Patriots.Though named Kingwood, we are actually composed of patriotic members from Montgomery and Liberty Counties as well. Our strength lies in welcoming politicians to our meetings (to dialogue with us, but not to endorse--though we do make it known when there is only one conservative who shares our values in the race) and hosting non-partisan (though firmly grounded in our core values) Town Halls in which the politicians speak for 15 minutes, and then take questions from us and the audience.
